Notes:

  1. Operating Temperature: Performance of EOT’s Faraday rotators/isolators is related to operating temperature. For information on the effects of operating temperature on EOT’s Faraday rotators/isolators, please contact EOT.
  2. Escape Ports: Escape ports for EOT’s wavelength tunable isolators are only available when cemented PBS cubes are ordered. Wavelength tunable isolators with PBS cubes come standard with double escape ports on both the input and output polarizer assemblies. These escape ports can be adjusted by the customer to be either open or closed. If rejected average power exceeds 0.5W or rejected energy exceeds 0.3mJ, EOT recommends the escape ports be used. Failure to use the escape ports under these conditions could result in optical damage or degrade the performance of your isolator. Please consult EOT’s Users Guide on how to use the escape ports.
  3. For incident powers >2KW/cm2 or >1J/cm2 for a 10ns pulse, please contact EOT.
  4. Storage Temperature: Storage temperatures should not exceed 70°C.
  5. Wavelength Tuning: Please consult the 500-1030nm Isolator Users Guide in the Tech Notes section of this website.
  6. Mounting Options: Cylindrical housings are inserted into a clamping device that provides 8-32 screw holes and may be mounted onto a standard post. All devices include a base for mating with ¼-20 screw holes 1” spaced breadboard.

EOT manufactures wavelength tunable Faraday isolators for the 500-1030nm region. Because the verdet constant in TGG changes with wavelength, there is a wavelength dependence inherent in Faraday isolators due the change in Faraday rotation. The effects of this can be compensated for by tuning the output polarizer of a Faraday isolator to correct for changes in Faraday rotation due to changes in wavelength. EOT’s wavelength tunable Faraday isolators utilize polarizer tuning to achieve wavelength tunability. Information on how to tune the output polarizer for a specific wavelength can be found in the Users Guide for Wavelength Tunable Isolators.

Key Features:

  • Compact Size
  • Tunability allows optimization of isolation at any wavelength within spectral range
  • Available with either dichroic glass polarizers or Polarizing Beamsplitter cubes
  • Optional λ/2 plate allows polarization beam polarization to be maintained.
  • Easy to adjust isolator for different input polarizations.
